A new conservation spotlight is being shined on Red Rock Canyon in Las Vegas.
On Tuesday, the Leave No Trace organization announced it had selected the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area as one of their 2023 Spotlight sites.
The new initiative shines a light on communities rising to meet this challenge with multi-day, onsite education, and stewardship programs as outdoor areas nationwide are being impacted by record use.
A team with Leave No Trace will be in Las Vegas, alongside a team with Friends of Red Rock Canyon, from March 31 through April 2 to work with the community and local land agencies to deliver education as well as to partner on restoration and stewardship projects.

“The Spotlight initiative highlights the great steps a community can take to protect an area that they cherish,” according to Dana Watts, the Executive Director of Leave No Trace.
A rehab project for the Calico One Trail is slated to take place over the weekend after it was found that over 780,000 people used that trail in 2022.
