A four-car crash left two people with life-threatening injuries in the northwest valley on Monday, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.
The collision was reported around 5:33 p.m. at Rainbow Boulevard and Gowan Road, LVMPD said in a statement.
Investigators believe a 2014 Hyundai Veloster was heading west on Gowan at an "excessive speed" and ran through a red light, police said.
It first crashed into a 2015 Kia Sorento that was heading north on Rainbow, causing the Kia to spin out and roll onto the passenger side.
The Hyundai then struck a 2019 Ford F-150 that was stopped at the intersection facing south, according to police. Some flying debris from the collision also hit a 2010 Toyota Camry.
People from the Hyundai and Kia were taken to UMC. Police say the two women inside the Hyundai, a 19-year-old driver and an 18-year-old passenger, suffered critical injuries.
Because of the driver's injuries, police sought a blood draw search warrant to determine if impairment is a factor.
The driver of the Kia reported only minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
