It's been 50 years since Las Vegas started a year this cold when it comes to the average high temperature.

So far, in 2023, the average high temperature in Las Vegas has been 58.5 degrees. That's the coldest start to a year in Las Vegas since the average high was 56.5 degrees back in 1973.

Las Vegas has reached 70 degrees or higher only five times this year compared to 26 times through March 27th of last year. By this time last year, Las Vegas reached 80 degrees or higher four times, including two days in the 90s.

63% of our daytime highs have been cooler than 60 degrees in 2023, and 72% of our days have been below normal when comparing the average daily temperature.

Cold nights have been common as well, with 39% of our overnight lows COLDER than 40 degrees.

We're also on pace to finish in the top 10 for the coldest March on record when looking at the average high temperature.

The coldest March on record was back in 1973 when the average high temperature was 60.7 degrees.

The average high temperature this March is at 62.5 degrees through March 27th. Compare that to an average high temperature of 73.1 degrees through March 27th of 2022.

Even though our days will be warmer over the next two weeks, the Climate Prediction Center continues to forecast a COOLER and WETTER than normal pattern through April 10th.
