17-year-old shot, killed at birthday party near Las Vegas Strip identified

UPDATE: The identity of the teenager killed in Saturday’s shooting was released by the Clark County Coroner’s office. Omarion Marques Wilson, 17, of North Las Vegas, died Saturday, officials said. The cause of death is listed by officials as a “gunshot wound of the left upper extremity with penetration into the chest.” Wilson’s death is categorized as a homicide.

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed at a birthday party near the Las Vegas Strip Saturday night.

According to police, around 9:17 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting inside a room on the fifth floor of a hotel in the 200 block of Flamingo Road near Koval Lane. When officers arrived, they found a 17-year-old boy inside the room who was suffering from a gunshot wound.

The teenager was taken to Sunrise Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Police said there was an 18-year-old’s birthday party taking place in the room and as the night went on, additional people showed up to the room who were not initially invited.

An argument started which escalated into a shooting. The suspect left the scene before officers arrived and no arrests have been made, police said.
