Herro injured himself in Miami's first game of the 2023 playoffs. The Denver Nuggets took complete control in Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Miami Heat, thanks to the 25+ point performances from Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. From the opening seconds of the game, Denver came out on fire and at one point held a 24-point lead over the Heat. Miami made a late run to make things interesting but it wasn't enough in the end which puts even more pressure on them to win tonight.

Carlson (ankle) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday, John Denton of MLB.com reports. Carlson has been running and taking swings from both sides of the plate since Monday, but he's still a few days away from returning to game action. The team didn't indicate how long it plans to keep Carlson on assignment, but he could return ahead of the Cards' next homestand June 9.

The Reds placed Friedl on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a strained left hamstring, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports. Friedl hasn't played since being removed from Tuesday's game against Boston. He's already begun doing field work alongside a bit of running, so he shouldn't require much more than a minimum stint on the IL, but that still means Friedl will be held out for another week or so. The 27-year-old outfielder is currently slashing .326/.377/.496 with 20 RBI through 158 plate appearances.

Crawford suffered a knee injury in the eighth inning of Saturday's loss to the Rangers but he plans to play against Texas on Sunday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. Crawford suffered the knee injury while making a dive into second base and colliding with Leody Taveras. While Crawford was able to stay in the game, it was clear the shortstop was dealing with soreness. If the pain doesn't subside, he may sit out a game, but for now Crawford should be considered likely to be in the lineup for Sunday's finale against the Rangers.

Wagner underwent surgery Friday to remove the hook of the hamate bone in his right hand, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports. Wagner was shut down earlier this week at Double-A Corpus Christi due to what was originally described as right wrist discomfort, and further testing revealed the need for a surgical procedure on his hamate bone. The 24-year-old infielder could be in recovery mode for close to two months.

The Miami Heat have tied the NBA Finals at one game apiece with a thrilling 111-108 victory in Game 2 against the Denver Nuggets. Denver led for most of the game, and was in control after three quarters, but a 36-25 fourth quarter out of the Heat completed the comeback and tied the series. Armstrong (neck) is expected to be activated from the injured list sometime this weekend, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Armstrong has been out all season with a neck injury, but he's looked ready on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Durham, holding a 2.00 ERA and 8:2 K:BB over nine innings of work. The 32-year-old is on the 60-day IL, so the Rays will have to clear a spot on the 40-man roster in addition to the 26-man roster.

Brown is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins. The Athletics have been running a five-man committee of late between the three outfield spots and designated hitter, with all of Brown, Ramon Laureano, JJ Bleday, Esteury Ruiz and Brent Rooker having handled at least semi-regular roles. Ruiz's playing time appears to be the most secure of the group, and though Brown finds himself as the odd man out versus a right-hander (Sandy Alcantara) on Sunday, Rooker seems to be losing the most playing time of late. Since returning from the injured list May 22, Brown is slashing just .132/.214/.289, but his .504 OPS over the past two weeks is still better than Rooker's mark (.447) over that same stretch.
