A World War II veteran injured in a violent car crash involving alleged robbery suspects is now breathing on his own.
Herbert Muskin has been at Sunrise Hospital since March 1, ever since a pair of robbery suspects hit the couple's car from behind at Sunset and Stephanie.
One of those suspects, Lorraine Alvarado, was then shot by police after they say she pointed a gun at officers.
She's still recovering while her co-defendant, the accused driver Kassandra Alvarez, was in court earlier this week.
Drew Muskin says his father, a World War II veteran and retired orthodontist, was in good health before the crash.
The concern now - the possibility of paralysis.
The family calls Muskin a fighter.
A man eager to get back to the blackjack tables at Sunset Station.
The family now has a GoFundMe account set up to pay for medical expenses.
The crash, they say, changed their lives forever.
When it comes to the next court hearing for Alvarado and Alvarez, the family says they'll be there.
