A Southwest flight leaving Las Vegas had to return to the airport after a pilot needed medical attention Wednesday, according to the airline.
Flight 6013 bound for Columbus, Ohio, took off from Harry Reid International Airport but had to return a short time later.
The website FlightAware states the plane left just after 6:30 a.m. but returned at about 7:50 a.m.
Southwest said the flight landed back at the airport safely and an alternate crew continued to Columbus.
"A credentialed pilot from another airline, who was on board, entered the Flight Deck and assisted with radio communication while our Southwest Pilot flew the aircraft," Southwest said in a statement. "We greatly appreciate their support and assistance."
The airline thanked passengers for their patience and commended the flight crew for their professionalism.
There was no word on the pilot's condition.
