As police figure out what caused a major traffic crash that critically injured multiple pedestrians, businesses are voicing their concerns regarding traffic on the roadway.
News 3 obtained surveillance video of the crash that happened mid-morning Wednesday from the "One Stop Trim Shop" that's across the street.
Owner Peter Smith said he was helping customers when he heard the impact. On video, it shows a "Loomis" armored truck lose control, hit the curb, and take out a light pole before hitting two people walking on the sidewalk along S Decatur near Oakey Boulevard.
"At nighttime, I don't even go outside," said Smith. "If I got to go to Seven-Eleven, I drive there. I feel better driving than walking."
Smith mentioned that there have been at least six major traffic accidents/crashes since he opened his store four years ago. He hopes the speed limit gets reduced.
"These people drive crazy!" exclaimed Smith. "I know everybody is in a hurry to get home to their family, but like this situation here, these folks are not going home to their family."
Patrick Otero, chief financial officer for Loomis, said in an email that the company is working with law enforcement to get more information, but no other information was available.
