A man has been arrested after attacking several officers and barricading himself inside an RTC bus on the southwest side of town.
The incident happened on Monday, at about 6:52 p.m., when Las Vegas police received reports from a bus security officer stating a man had gone on a bus stopped at Blue Diamond Road and Durango Drive and attacked the security officer with a trash can and rocks.
When officers arrived, they located the man, identified as 29-year-old Allyn McFarland, inside the bus alone with some rocks in hand. Police attempted to get McFarland to exit the bus, but he refused.
A K-9 Officer, his dog, and other officers entered the bus to take McFarland into custody when a struggle ensued, leading to McFarland being bitten by the K-9.
During the struggle, McFarland bit an officer and struck several others. The officers were treated for their injuries at UMC and subsequently released.
McFarland was transported to UMC, where he was treated for his injuries and later booked into the Clark County Detention Center.
He is being charged with mayhem, battery with substantial bodily harm, battery on a protected person (5 counts), and mistreating a police animal.
A booking photo for McFarland was not immediately available.
