    How many distracted drivers have been cited in April?

    LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — April is Distracted Driver Awareness Month. Around the Capital area, Michigan State Police troopers have been busy enforcing recent changes to state laws .

    So far this month, the First District post in Lansing has issued 129 citations to people who were holding their cell phones while driving.

    Holding a cell phone is now against the law in Michigan, even when you are at a complete stop. State police have been urging everyone to use a phone mount and go hands-free behind the wheel.

    The post also reported more than 90 citations in April for seatbelt violations, and 23 for careless driving.
