The man accused of killing a longtime U.S. diplomat while she was riding her bike in Bethesda last year, pleaded guilty Monday inside a Rockville courtroom.

The Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Calian Duke, a missing 14-year-old. Duke was last seen on Monday, September 25, 2023, at approximately 1:40 a.m., in the 11700 block of Old Columbia Pike in Silver Spring. On Sept. 22, DC Superior Court Judge Anthony Epstein denied homicide defendant Mohamed Goodwin’s motion to withdraw a guilty plea in connection to a 2020 homicide. Jonathan Munafo, age 36, of Albany, was sentenced to 33 months behind bars in US District Court in Washington, DC on Friday, Sept. 22. “His actions and the actions of others disrupted a joint session of the US Congress convened to ascertain and count the electoral votes related to the presidential election,” reads a statement from the US Attorney’s Office.

The driver, 46-year-old Brian C. Diffell, of Falls Church, Va., was later found and charged Sunday night with one felony count of hit-and-run.

A man whose bomb threat near the U.S. Capitol forced evacuations and sparked an hour-long standoff with police in 2021 recently was sentenced to five years of probation. Floyd Ray Roseberry was experiencing a mental-health crisis at the time of the threat, and during the year that he served in jail after his arrest he stopped a violent assault on a guard, U.S. District Judge Rudolph Contreras said.
