Caregiver Accused Of Raping Mentally Disabled Person In Lancaster Found

A year after a $1,000 reward was offered for information leading to the capture of a man who is accused of raping a person with mental disabilities, David Vazquez has been arrested.

The 67-year-old Lancaster City man was taken into custody in Scranton by Pennsylvania State Police.

Lancaster County Crime Stoppers had been offering the reward "for information leading the arrest and/or conviction" of Vazquez.

“David Vazquez is aware of the criminal charges and has been intentionally avoiding law enforcement,” Crime Stoppers said in a statement. The warrant for his arrest was issued on June 20, 2022 for the following charges:

  • Rape of victim with mental disability.
  • Sexual assault.
  • Institutional sexual assault of a minor.
  • Indecent assault.
  • Corruption of minors.
  • Endangering the welfare of children.
  • Terroristic threats.

He was apprehended on Monday, Aug. 28.
