Stone County 18-year-old killed in car vs motorcycle crash

STONE COUNTY, Mo. — A man from Lampe, Missouri, has died following a crash involving a truck and a motorbike on Saturday, April 13.

The Southern Stone County Fire Protection District (SSCFPD) says the crash happened around 3:37 p.m. Saturday on State Highway 13 and West State Highway 86, three miles south of Lampe.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) crash report, a 2017 Coleman Minibike driven by 18-year-old Taylor Phillips was traveling northbound on MO-13 when the motorcycle pulled into the path of a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by 66-year-old David Shuppert of Blue Eye heading southbound.

Phillips was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:44 p.m. by an EMS supervisor for Mercy. Shuppert was not injured in the crash.

SSCFPD says the crash resulted in the highway being closed for three and a half hours as units with the SSCFPD, Mercy Ambulance, and Missouri State Police investigated the incident.

The next of kin have been notified of the passing of Phillips. This crash is the 22nd fatality for MSHP Troop D in 2024.
