A crash involving a car and a trash truck in Lakeville earlier this week left three people injured and a driver trapped in their vehicle for nearly an hour, police said.
Authorities received a 911 call around 4:50 p.m. Thursday about the two-vehicle crash on Bedford Street near Crooked Lane. Officers went to the scene and found two injured people in the trash truck that had collided with the car, in which the driver was also found wounded, according to a statement from the Lakeville Police Department.
The Lakeville Fire Department had to free one of the drivers, who was trapped in their vehicle for almost an hour, the statement said. Police did not say in their statement which vehicle, the car or the trash truck, the driver was trapped inside.
The driver of the trash truck was flown by medical helicopter to the trauma center at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island, while the driver of the car and a passenger in the trash truck were both taken by ambulance to nearby hospitals, according to the statement.
The crash remains under investigation by Lakeville police with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section.
