The Ivy League Is Siding With Dartmouth Against College Athlete Unionization
The Ivy League is backing Dartmouth in its legal quest to prevent college athletes from being considered employees. On Tuesday, the conference filed an amicus brief with the National Labor Relations Board in support of Dartmouth’s position that athletes should not be allowed to unionize or receive university employee status. The school is currently in the process of appealing a February ruling stating men’s basketball players are professionals, allowing them to vote to join a union. (The players voted in March, 13–2, to join their local chapter of the Service Employees International Union.)

West Bridgewater High's Jag Garces has been voted the High School Baseball Player of the Week. The sophomore collected over 9,000 votes to earn the honor. Garces reached base 5 times (double, 4 walks) and stole 5 bases in a 16-7 win over Hull. He doubled in all three of his plate appearances in a 10-8 loss to Cohasset.
High School athletes take to the track for outdoor season
Track may look similar done indoors and out, but there are some differences, including a few more events, said Head Coach for Wareham High School Track Chris Gardner. The track team is about halfway through its season, said Gardner. He added, this week into the next three the team will “really get into it” and put in the practice and repetitions to get where it needs to be.
