Update: Three Waukegan Men Now Charged in North Chicago Murder
(North Chicago, IL) A third Waukegan resident has been charged in a North Chicago homicide that took place last week. Lake County Major Crime Task Force officials on Monday said 35-year-old Seferino Calihua-Rodriguez allegedly hired 26-year-old Misael Chavarin-Plazola to kill an ex-girlfriend. That woman, who has not yet been identified, was shot and killed last Friday morning in the 1-thousand-block of Victoria Avenue. Authorities now say a third man, 29-year-old Rosalio Diaz Zarate, was the getaway driver for the alleged shooter, and has also been taken into custody. All three suspects face multiple first-degree murder counts, among other charges.
Lake County Liquor Stores Under Scrutiny for Underage Alcohol Sales
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has been performing checks at liquor stores across Lake County. The purpose of these checks is to prevent the sale of alcohol to those under 21. Out of 55 stores checked, seven were found breaking this law.

ROUND LAKE, Ill. - A Round Lake man who was shot by police during a hostage situation last week has been charged. On Sept. 19, Round Lake police responded to a home in the 700 block of North Park Road and tried to speak to a couple who were living in the basement after a woman told officers there was a woman in the basement who needed help, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
Driver Faces Homicide Charge; Drugs Allegedly Involved
The driver of an Amazon truck has been charged in Racine court with vehicular homicide while under the influence of a controlled substance, namely marijuana. Bond for 31-year-old Jonathan Bueche of Antioch was set Tuesday at $5,000. According to the criminal complaint, Bueche turned in front of a motorcycle Sunday morning at Highway K and West Frontage Road, killing the driver of the cycle, 45-year-old Adam Hobach of Oak Creek. His juvenile daughter, who was riding on the back, suffered serious injuries that were not life-threatening. Bueche purportedly admitted to using marijuana the night before through a water pipe and a vape pen. The complaint says the defendant failed a pair of field sobriety tests. The results of two blood draws were pending.
