Mayor Richard Bissen has scheduled discussion sessions for Kula and Lahaina residents impacted by the August 8th fires. These sessions aim to provide a platform for residents to share experiences and ask questions. They will supplement the regular community updates on re-entry and debris removal.

Lots of sunshine with some interior and leeward clouds by this afternoon. Many areas will have clear skies and clear evening. Overnight the transition continues to trade wind weather into Sunday. Another front will nearly reach the western portion of the Hawaiian Islands before dissipating Monday night. Behind the front are breezy to locally strong NE trades that will last thru the middle of next week. Some of these winds will be 20-30 mph with gusts possibly reaching 45 mph in some places; mostly windward and mauka showers will prevail during this time.

WHAT: County of Maui Disaster Area Restrictions will be lifted for owners and residents with vehicle passes from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting, beginning Monday, December 11, and Tuesday, December 12, in Zones 9A, 9B, 11A, 12A and 12C. The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL) has completed its final Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Villages of Leali’i, Village 1-B Subdivision project in Lahaina, Maui Island. The report concludes that the project will not significantly impact the environment. This project, funded and located on state lands, has undergone a comprehensive environmental review as per Hawaiʻi Revised Statutes.
