It was the opening day of the West Georgia Men’s Baseball League Thursday with the Royals and Space Cowboys battling it out on opening day with the Space Cowboys coming out on top 7-3.

The Space Cowboys used a six run fourth inning to rally and beat the Royals to start off the season on the right foot.

The Royals opened the scoring in the top of the second when Dustin Ogle flied out to center field to drive in a run. Two batters later Franky Primavera walked with the bases loaded to double the Royals’ lead.

The Space Cowboys cut the lead in half in the bottom of the second when Noah Weiss scored on a steal of home.

The Royals once again took a two-run lead when Jack Webb hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run.

This was all just set up for the offensive explosion from the Space Cowboys in the fourth that saw them take a lead that they would never relinquish. Weiss hit a double to drive in a run and get the rally going. Two batters later Brandon Wilson hit an RBI single to tie the game. Brandon Wilson and Hayden Morgan then had back-to-back hits to drive in three runs and give the team a comfortable lead. Hunter Mowers singled to drive in the final run of the game and give the Space Cowboys a 7-3 lead.

Morgan got the start on the mound for the Space Cowboys, who ended up using four pitchers in the game. Kaleb White, Adam Tompkins and Walt Taylor all saw time on the mound with Tompkins earning the win.

The top of the order led the way for the Space Cowboys as White, Morgan and Wyatt Frailey all had three hits each in the one, two and three spots in the order. Weiss and Wilson had two hits apiece while Mowers and Dalton Tucker had a hit each.

Justus Holt had the only multi-hit game for the Royals with two singles. Dustin Ogle, Ben Ogle, Franky Primavera, Noah Primavera, Timothy Primavera and Cody Watson all had a hit apiece.

The Royals (0-1) will play the Dodgers (0-1) next Tuesday. The Space Cowboys will play the Bulls next Thursday.
