La Crosse YMCA to provide free meals to area kids

LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- Looking for some help with your kids' lunches while school is out? The La Crosse area YMCA will be providing free meals for kids throughout the summer.

The Y is partnering with the La Crosse Area School District and the Salvation Army to bring meals to kids out in the community.

The program is welcome to everyone 18 and under and you don't need to register for a meal.

It's part of the Y's goal to make sure every kid has access to nutritious meals.

"So, every summer we have recognized that the kids still need somewhere to get a meal everyday even though they're out of school, so we've decided to step in and bring lunches to the community," said YMCA food access director Courtney Kramolis.

It's not just meals they'll have access to. The Y will also lead fun enrichment activities to keep kids' minds and bodies active.

The program will be available through a number of locations in La Crosse County, as well as one location in Monroe and Vernon counties
