ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Steven Robles, accused of ramming into a police cruiser when trying to evade arrest, was scheduled to change his plea in state court on Tuesday but that all changed when his attorney told the judge there might be a federal indictment. The new information was outlined in an FBI search warrant in connection to his recent crimes.

Albuquerque man sentenced for fatally shooting his roommate

Robles was accused of using a gun to steal a car on Wyoming Blvd. in January. That’s just a block away from a crime he committed at 16 years old. In 2021, Robles opened fire in the parking lot of the Christ Lutheran School with a father and his young daughter almost caught in the crosshairs. He pled guilty to having a deadly weapon on school premises and was sentenced to nine months behind bars.

Despite the prior conviction, in February, a judge released Robles until trial for the carjacking case. In July, police arrested him again. Albuquerque police said they saw Robles concealing a firearm in a downtown parking garage and that he rammed into a police cruiser when trying to take off. Police caught him a short time later.

The FBI said they found three guns, including one that was stolen, and multiple rounds of ammo in the car. They also said they found more than 30 grams of cocaine, a scale, and rubber gloves.

Robles is facing additional charges for having a stolen handgun and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance. He is charged with two counts of armed robbery and resisting arrest at the state level with an additional carjacking charge for the January incident.

9 months? that's it? no big surprise from the legal system here in NM. The left says something needs to be done about guns, yet will not punish anyone using guns to commit crimes...yea that sounds about right.
