    12 guns, ammunition found in homes of attempted murder suspects: police

    ( KRON ) – A dozen firearms with hundreds of rounds of ammunition were found in the residences of two Santa Rosa residents who have been charged with suspicion of attempted murder, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department.

    At 8:33 p.m. on Saturday, Santa Rosa police officers heard gunfire while patrolling coming from the Dutton Plaza parking lot. The officers responded to the location of the victim, who was unharmed.

    Police learned the suspects and the victims were in an altercation in the parking lot, before the suspects retrieved the assault rifle, firing at the victims while driving away. The suspects reportedly fled east on Sebastopol Road. Police said the duo struck many nearby buildings.

    The suspects were described as two men in a blue Pontiac.

    Santa Rosa PD later found the suspects in the 900 block of Sebastopol Road. Officers said a high-powered assault rifle was in the Pontiac.

    The suspects were identified as Santa Rosa residents: 41-year-old convicted felon Steve Strawn and 43-year-old Jared Ambrose.

    Santa Rosa detectives executed search warrants at the suspects’ residences on Kirkwood Court and Beachwood Drive. According to police, the search yielded 12 additional firearms, various firearm parts and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

    Ambrose was booked into Sonoma County Jail for suspicion of attempted murder and shooting from a vehicle.

    Strawn was booked into Sonoma County Jail for suspicion of attempted murder, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition and discharging a firearm from a vehicle.
