Ciara Heffron was brilliant in the circle and the Knoxville Softball Squad hit three home runs to down class 3A #9 Albia on Wednesday night 4-0 as heard on 95.3 KNIA. Knoxville’s first big blow was the Brittany Bacorn bomb to left-center field to make it 1-0 in the 2nd inning. Hannah Dunkin also hit a shot to left-center on a two run homer to make it 3-0 in the 4th, and Heffron finished off the scoring depositing a solo shot in nearly the same spot as Bacorn and Dunkin. Heffron also owned the circle allowing three hits and mowing down 11 Blue Demons. Coach Carla Smith told KNIA/KRLS Sports Heffron was able to adjust to the strike zone.

Smith: “I think that 1st batter she was trying to work the zone, and he wasn’t giving us a lot then, but she settled down and did a good job tonight.”

The Panthers also played error-free ball and improved to 7-2 on the season and 4-1 in the South Central Conference. Meanwhile, across the way on Panther Drive, the class 3A #3 Knoxville Baseball Squad swept Albia 10-0 in game one and 7-0 in game two. Beau Leisure pitched a six inning no hitter while Luke Spaur, Dakota Ramsey, and Hayden Hatch got two hits each. Lincoln Norris got the win in game two with a one hit shutout in six innings with five strikeouts. Knoxville is now 15-1 and 9-0 in conference play. The Panthers will head to PCM tonight, softball is off until a trip to Clarke on Friday.
