Both Knoxville Summer sports squads were able to pick off wins in Centerville on Friday as the baseball Panthers remained unbeaten with a 7-5 victory and the softball squad won 10-6. Lincoln Norris got the win on the mound going six innings. He along with Luke Spaur, Kade Bellon, Trey Wight, Koby Higginbotham, and Trenton Kingery had hits, with Kingery’s being a triple. The last few games have seen Kingery start to be more himself at the plate, and the offseason work says Coach Turner Devore is paying off.

Devore: “Trenton’s hitting the ball to right center you know he’s one. His average wasn’t bad, but we know a lot of people expect more out of him as we do. When his gets hot, our entire lineup gets deeper.”

The Softball Squad plated eight runs in the 3rd inning and then had to hold on for the win. Ciara Heffron not only shined in the circle getting the win, but also held the big bat as she was 4/5 five five RBI including a homer. Ashlyn Finarty also went 3/4 with a homer. Heffron fanned 16 batters, and the Panthers were able to overcome five errors. Softball is now 6-2 on the season and 3-1 in conference play while the class 3A #7 baseball squad is 12-0 and 6-0 in conference play. Baseball travels to Chariton on Monday while softball heads to Bondurant-Farrar on Tuesday.
