The Knoxville Fire Department and several other local emergency crews responded to two incidents in Knoxville this evening.

Fire Chief Cal Wyman says they were dispatched to a reported residential fire in the 100 block of South Conrey St at 8:16 p.m. The Knoxville City Fire Department responded with one engine company, one EMS company, and one command officers. Departments arrived to find smoke throughout the main floor of the residence. Engine crews made entry to find a dryer on fire. Crews extinguished the fire and ventilated the structure.

While crews were responding to the residential structure fire, dispatch alerted crews to a vehicle that had driven into a building with a person still inside. Crews arrived on scene to find a pickup truck had driven through a storage building. The driver was assisted from the vehicle and refused medical treatment. Crews used struts to stabilize and support the building until the truck could be removed. The structure is unstable, and the department ask everyone to stay away from this area until the building owner can make repairs or demolish the building.

Knoxville Fire Department was assisted on both scenes by Knoxville Police, Knoxville Rural Fire Department, Pleasantville Fire Department, Pella Ambulance, the Marion County Sherriff’s Office, and Knoxville Street Department.
