It is a ranked match up tonight on Panther Drive as class 3A #7 Knoxville hosts class 3A #6 Ballard in a non-conference baseball contest. The Panthers have started off 8-0 and seem to be getting a reputation for winning home games in walk-off fashion, which was the case on Friday night against Cardinal. Coach Turner Devore tells KNIA/KRLS Sports hopes for no walk off, and knows Ballard will bring in a solid team that gives his team a chance to get another signature win.

Devore: “It’ll be a good t4st, they’re really good this year. Mike does a good job this year, they’re not all that experienced but they’re really good. We’ll see how we can play and battle.”

Meanwhile, the other inhabitants on Panthers Drive, the Knoxville Softball Squad will head east to Washington for a double header tonight. The Panthers shelled Cardinal 14-2 on Friday night and stand at 3-1 on the season. Coach Carla Smith tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the South Central Conference is a tough draw this season and the non-conference is also built to get her team ready for the class 4A regionals.

Smith: “Day in and day out, we don’t get a day off. We don’t have anyone that we can just go in and say we’re going to get an easy win, we have to play well and adapt to their pitching to get the job done.”

The Demons and the Panthers do have a common opponent as Washington split a double header with Cardinal last week both were one run games. Softball is set to start with game one at 5:30, while baseball is set to start at 7:30. You can hear the baseball game live on 95.3 KNIA.
