Boys Tennis Starts Against State Power North Polk

The Knoxville Boys Tennis Squad will get the season underway today as the Panthers will host one of the state’s top powers in North Polk. The Comets are coming off an 8-3 loss to Pella on Tuesday while the Panthers are in a rebuilding phase with nearly half of the players out for tennis for the first time. First year Coach Kevin Wadle tells KNIA/KRLS Sports it is all about learning to play the game.

Wadle: “For me it’s all about repetition, we have to talk about holding the racket, and proper stepping, let’s get the mistakes out in practice, I don’t care how many mistakes you make in practice, you can’t be afraid to make mistakes, because that’s how you compete.”

Girls Track Heads To DeWitt Relays, Boys Soccer Starts Against Carlisle

While Tennis is hosting, the girls track and Field Squad will head to the DeWitt Relays at Clarke High School tonight along with two other area squads as Pleasantville and Twin Cedars join the Panthers. Several Knoxville athletes are listed as top seeds in tonight event including Knoxville’s Melanie Sullivan in the 400 as she has the 3rd best time of 1:05.56 she is also the top seed in the long jump at 17 feet 1.5 inches while Ciara Heffron and Ashlyn Finarty are ready to unleash the shot put and disc on the competition. The final event for Knoxville this evening is the boys soccer squad getting its season off at Randy Wilson Track against Carlisle.

Knoxville Boys Golf Meet Moved To Thursday

The Knoxville Boys Golf meet at Pleasantville will be played today instead of Friday. The move was made to make sure the meet was played due to the forecast of rain on Friday. The Panthers are coming off winning a triangular Tuesday Night in their season opener. Today’s meet will begin 4:00pm.
