Wabash River from Lafayette downstream to Mount Carmel.

.Following the heavy rain last week, the Wabash River from Lafayette
southward remains in flood, and flooding will last as long as into
the middle of next week along portions of the Wabash.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock you off your feet
and a depth of 2 feet will float your car. Never try to walk, swim,
or drive through such swift water. If you come upon flood waters,
stop, turn around and go another way.

- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
early Sunday morning and continue falling and remain below
flood stage.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Wabash River at Montezuma.

* WHEN...Until late Tuesday evening.

* IMPACTS...At 18.0 feet, Montezuma agricultural levee is
overtopped.  Fourteen hundred acres of low bottomlands flood.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 10:45 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 18.9 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 10:45 AM EDT Thursday was 19.9 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
late Tuesday morning and continue falling and remain below
flood stage.
- Flood stage is 14.0 feet.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Wabash River at Terre Haute.

* WHEN...Until late Wednesday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 20.5 feet, Residential property of about 50 river
cabins begin to flood.  North Lake and Izaak Walton Areas near
West Terre Haute begin to flood.  Flooding closes more county
roads.  Lowland agricultural flooding is in progress.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 11:30 AM EDT Thursday /10:30 AM CDT Thursday/ the stage
was 20.3 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 11:30 AM EDT Thursday /10:30 AM CDT Thursday/ was
20.7 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
late Tuesday evening and continue falling and remain below
flood stage.
- Flood stage is 16.5 feet.

Flooding closes roads in Daviess, Knox counties

DAVIESS/KNOX COUNTIES, Ind. (WTHI) - Flooding has closed a couple roadways in southern parts of the Wabash Valley.

State Road 358 is closed east of Edwardsport.

The Knox County Emergency Management Agency said the closure is expected to last through the week.

The EMA said three feet of water will be flowing across the roadway when the river crests around 22 feet.

Current forecasts from the National Weather Service show that crest happening early Tuesday morning.

The Daviess County Sheriff's Office says State Road 257 is also closed due to flooding.

Officials urge drivers to not drive through any flooded roads.
