A bizarre scene unfolded in South Carolina on September 12, when a freight train rammed into an 18-wheeler truck that was carrying a military tank , seemingly causing significant damage to both vehicles.

Knewz.com has learned that the incident occurred in the city of Goose Creek at around 12:30 p.m. local time.

According to local reports and eyewitness accounts, the truck was attached to what has been described as a “low boy” trailer, which was carrying the military armored vehicle.

The “tank” has been identified in several reports as an M109 Paladin Howitzer mobile artillery vehicle.

Local reports have explained that the truck and the attached “low boy” trailer got stuck while attempting to drive over the railway crossing on North Goose Creek Boulevard and Liberty Hall Road.

At this moment, the CSX freight train rammed into the truck and the tank it was carrying at full speed. According to reports, the crossing was damaged as a result of the collision as well.

Footage of the incident captured by bystanders showed the truck driver running out of the vehicle right before the accident.

It has been reported that the freight train eventually came to a halt after the collision.

The Goose Creek Police Department is currently working on the accident and informed in a Facebook post that no injuries have been reported.

The driver, who was seen running out of the truck, has refused treatment.

The social media post from the police department further mentioned that the crossing suffered extensive damage, causing the “intersections at both Liberty Hall and at Redbank Road” to remain temporarily closed for a few hours.

However, in the latest update , the Goose Creek Police Department announced that the roads have since reopened.

One does not often get to see an incident as strange as this, which is what the eyewitnesses mentioned in their statements as well.

“My son’s a little shook up, but yeah, we’re okay,” said Jennifer Clinton, who, along with her son, witnessed the truck-freight train crash and captured it on video.

“It was devastating to see [in person],” Clinton added .

Another report quoted bystanders as saying, “It’s not every day you see a tank get smashed by a train.”

It is unknown as of yet who the Howitzer tank belongs to, or the extent of the damages caused to the CSX freight train.

The incident came a few months after footage was shared showing a Georgia man narrowly escaping death after a train slammed into his truck.

The Georgia incident happened in June 2024, near Interstate 75 in Cartersville, around 40 miles northeast of Atlanta.

Footage captured by the driver of the vehicle right behind the truck showed the 18-wheeler tractor-trailer that had stalled on train tracks as a train horn could be heard blaring moments before the locomotive rammed into the massive truck, sending debris flying.

Zack Hatcher, the individual who captured the video, had to back up his own car to avoid getting hit by the debris.

The driver of the 18-wheeler could be seen disembarking the truck and making a run for it as the train approached.

Captain Lisa Fuller of the City of Emerson Police Department said in a statement to ABC News at the time, “The engineer and conductor both stated that they could see the truck stopped on the tracks — they started breaking as soon as they saw the truck, but they were not able to stop in time.”
