Three Central Florida restaurants were shut down due to roaches, rodents and insects in the week of March 12-18, according to data from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

Osceola County

Manila Grill Asian Fusion LLC. at 7868 W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway in Kissimmee shut down on March 14. Inspectors found 26 violations, eight of which were a high priority. Those violations included the food prep sink having soil and food residue, roaches, single-use gloves not being changed when soiled and food held at the wrong temperatures.

Officials revisited on March 15. They found 24 violations and issued time extensions for six of the previous eight high-priority violations.

The restaurant met inspection standards.

Brevard County

Uncle Sams Brau Haus at 8820 U.S. 1 S. Suite #106 in Micco shut down on March 14. Inspectors found six violations, one of which was a high-priority violation for rodent activity.

On a second visit, they found no violations and the restaurant was allowed to reopen.

Volusia County

Ocean Breeze Bar & Grill at 521 Flagler Ave in New Smyrna Beach shut down on March 13. Inspectors found 17 violations, six of which were a high priority. Those violations included an employee touching ready-to-eat food with their bare hands, live insects and ants, a dead fly floating in eggwash and an improperly stored chemical substance.

On a second visit, officials found six violations and issued a time extension for food held at the wrong temperatures. The restaurant met inspection standards.

Complaints and warnings

Orange County had the top spot for most warnings and other complaints in Central Florida with 32.

Volusia had 15, Brevard had 12, Lake had eight, Osceola had five and Seminole had 10. Warnings given with required follow-up inspections could lead to a business being shut down if problems remain.
