Jury call has been cancelled District Court and JP Court. 

Jasper County District Attorney Anne Pickle and her staff are preparing to take a man to trial who is accused of choking a woman, and also charged with a drug crime.

According to Pickle, 50-year-old Anthony Raydell Mason, of Kirbyville, is currently under grand jury indictment on a March of 2022 3rd degree felony charge of Assault-Family Violence by Impeding Breathing or Circulation. Mason is accused of choking Brandi Boyd.

Pickle says Mason also faces a 1st degree felony charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Jury selection is slated to begin on the morning of Monday, June 26th.

Mason is being represented by Buna attorney Robert E. “Rob” Hughes, Jr. It’s not yet known which judge will preside over the trial.
