KINGWOOD — The Rotary Club of Kingwood met most recently on March 6 at Rosemary’s Thyme, with 16 members plus a Preston High Interact Club representative in attendance.
The agenda was full, including a report regarding February’s Golf/Cash Bash fundraiser and discussions regarding the club’s upcoming Adopt A Highway cleanup on April 22, participation in Rise Against Hunger — a multiple club service project — to be held on April 1, suggested enhancements to the club’s annual coat drive project and the District Conference (a celebration of Rotary) on April 28-29.
Additionally, Interact member Lily Moreno reported that their club purchased a banner with funds provided by the Rotary Club of Kingwood and shared news about a couple of recent/current service projects.
Immediately following the meeting, the Rotary club presented a sponsorship for an Interact member to attend the 2023 Youth Leadership Academy. Cheat Lake Rotarian Jamie Summerlin presented the program, which focused on his efforts to support Operation Welcome Home, both personally and through his business.
The Rotary Club of Kingwood supports global Rotary initiatives such as the elimination of polio worldwide and by providing service to the local community through projects such as those named above as well as Pack the Bus, Pack the Backpacks and awarding scholarships to Preston High School students.
Anyone interested in learning more about or joining the club can contact a Rotary member directly, visit the club’s Facebook page or attend a meeting. Meetings are held 6:15 p.m. the first Tuesday of every month at Rosemary’s Thyme, and offer multiple membership options tailored to your lifestyle. If you’d like, come a little early to socialize and have dinner during our meeting. We would love to meet you!
