Kingston man charged with possessing weapon on school grounds

ESOPUS – Ulster County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a Kingston man on charges of criminal possession of a weapon on school grounds as well as criminal possession of a weapon and criminal impersonation.

On March 25, deputies investigated an incident involving Marcel Davis, 41, in the Town of Esopus in which he allegedly had openly carried a firearm and Taser while purporting to be an armed guard hired by a third party.

On April 27 at about 3:40 p.m., deputies stopped Davis leaving a school.

The investigation from the stop revealed he was in possession of a loaded shotgun and a semi-automatic handgun.

Davis was arrested and later released on appearance tickets returnable to Esopus Justice Court and Town of Ulster Justice Court at later dates.
