    Glynn Co. officer arrested following early morning disturbance call

    GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) – Kingsland Police have arrested an officer with the Glynn County Police Department following a morning disturbance.

    Early Sunday morning the Kingsland Police Department received a call about a disturbance at the home of Zachary Hampel, an officer with the Glynn County Police Department. Upon arriving on the scene officers arrested Hampel on charges of Disorderly Conduct and Cruelty to Children First Degree.

    GCPD Command Officers responded to Hampel’s residence and secured all GCPD-issued equipment/property. Hampel was immediately placed on administrative leave without pay.

    The Office of Professional Standards (OPS) was promptly assigned to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. The investigation will include interviews with all parties involved and a review of any available evidence.
