Fatal crash closes U.S. 41 for 9-hours near Kingman

KINGMAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Covington woman has died following a semi vs passenger vehicle crash near the border between Parke and Fountain counties.

According to Indiana State Police, the crash occurred at the intersection of U.S. 41 and S.R. 234 just east of Kingman at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigating troopers found that Anita Field, 72, of Covington, was driving her vehicle westbound on S.R. 234 when she failed to yield the right of way at the intersection of U.S. 41 and was hit by a semi-truck headed northbound.

The crash caused the semi to overturn blocking both lanes of U.S. 41. The driver of the truck was uninjured in the crash.

Police said the crash caused the closure of U.S. 41 at the intersection for approximately 9 hours.

Field was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Fountain County Coroner.
