Yanda ends 10-1/2-year city council tenure
Donna Yanda participated in her last Yukon City Council meeting on May 7 as she prepared to end a 10-1/2-years tenure. “It’s been an honor to serve the citizens of Yukon,” Yanda told the audience. “I’ve served with some amazing and wonderful individuals, and amazing city staff.
Tribes plan to bring jobs to Fort Reno
EL RENO – So what happens if the Cheyenne and Arapaho are successful in finally getting Fort Reno returned to the tribes?. Reggie Wassana has a one-word answer: jobs. “Someone has to step up and help create an environment that helps build economic opportunity in central and western Oklahoma,” said Wassana, governor of the C&A Tribes. “It can be the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes working with the local communities to help build a promising future for the generations to come. We can’t always rely on the oil and gas industry because it fluctuates up and down. There has to be more opportunity for everyone.”

Yukon school board members elected new officers at their monthly meeting Monday night. Yukon Public Schools’ Board of Education on May 13 held its annual reorganization, with members reciting their oaths of office in unison. Here are the board positions for the next year:. President – Cody Sanders.
Pillmore joins Yukon City Council
New Ward 3 City Council Member Brian Pillmore recites the oath of office administered by Yukon Municipal Judge Jennifer King during a swearing-in ceremony Tuesday morning at Yukon City Hall, 500 W Main. Pillmore defeated Joe Horn and Stephen Kerr in the Feb. 13th Ward 3 election to earn a four-year term on the five-member council. Adam Shriver (Ward 4) and Pillmore are new members on Yukon’s city council, joining Shelli Selby (Ward 2), Jeff Wootton (At-large) and Rodney Zimmerman (Ward 1).
