Golf pro Keith Clawson, a King of Prussia native and Upper Merion High School graduate, is leaving Merion Golf Club after three years for East Hampton Golf Club, writes Michael Bradley for the Main Line Today.

Clawson will take on the role of the head pro at his new club.

Clawson lived down the street from Gulph Mills Golf Club when he was a teenager. His parents prompted him to go there and ask for a caddying job.

“That was pretty daunting for a 13-year-old,” said Clawson.

The head pro at the club liked his courage and effort and promised him some work. Since Gulph Mills was not too busy over the summer, Clawson got to enjoy one big perk: playing golf with other caddies every Monday.

Over the several following years, his game improved significantly while he also developed into a club professional with a promising future.

The last six months are the best indicator of his progress. He won the Philadelphia PGA Section’s Justin Riegel Assistant Golf Professional of the Year Award this January.
