State patrol investigating 2 more drive-by shootings on King County freeways

KING COUNTY, Wash. — The Washington State Patrol says it is investigating two more drive-by shootings in King County amid an “alarming” rise in shootings on the state’s roadways.

The first happened just after midnight Wednesday on Interstate 5 near the Northeast 50th Street off-ramp in north Seattle.

According to WSP, someone in a white sedan fired a round into the passenger door of a Ford pickup truck.

No one inside the truck was injured.

The second incident happened just after 10:30 a.m. on southbound State Route 167 near State Route 18, in Auburn.

A driver of a sedan, described as having mismatched paint, black rims, and possibly a black hood, fired one round into the front of a semi-truck.

The sedan had no license plates.

The semi-truck driver was uninjured and described the suspect as a white man wearing a ski mask.

WSP detectives have now investigated 12 drive-by shootings in King County so far this year, with six of those happening just in March.

Anyone with information on either of these shootings is asked to contact WSP Detective Russ Haake at Russ.Haake@wsp.wa.gov.
