    Kern County Public Works: Bulky waste cleanup events

    BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Public Works Department is set to host two bulky waste collection events and a community clean-up event in Buttonwillow.

    The bulky waste collection events are set for Oct. 5 from 8 a.m. to noon. There will be three drop-off locations around Bakersfield and one in the Buttonwillow area.

    The Bakersfield drop-off locations are set to be at:

    • Meadows Field Int’l Terminal, which is located at 1229 Skyway Drive
    • Kern Medical, which is located at 1700 Mt. Vernon Avenue in the Flower Street Parking Lot
    • Kern County Fairgrounds, which is located at 1142 South P Street
    2 ordered to trial in Bakersfield woman’s abduction from gym parking lot, robbery and rape

    The Buttonwillow bulky waste collection event is scheduled to be at the Buttonwillow Recreation and Park District, which is located at 556 Milo Avenue.

    All the drop-off locations will be accepting residential bulky waste free of charge.

    Residential bulky waste includes:

    • Home appliances
    • Televisions and E-waste
    • Furniture
    • Mattresses
    • Water heaters
    • Tires without rims

    County officials will not be accepting hazardous waste, green waste, commercial waste and construction waste.

    In addition to the bulky waste collection events, there will be a clean-up starting at the Buttonwillow Recreation and Park District at 8 a.m. on Oct. 5.

    Three celestial events will light up the night sky Tuesday

    County officials say trash bags, gloves, trash pickers, and safety vests will be provided.
