Anadarko parents arrested, facing child neglect charges

ANADARKO Okla. (KFOR) — Court documents reveal two parents, Lorretta Lynn Davis and Frank Bertley Davis, are each facing a felony count of child neglect.

The investigation started with a phone call to police.

“We were notified by the school of the problem and officers from our department went over there and seen the living conditions and and worked with DHS.” said Chief Eric Harlan of the Anadarko Police Department.

In the affidavit, an officer describes seeing a significant amount of loose animal feed and mouse feces on the ground, along with cockroaches on the floor of their Anadarko home.

In the documents, Frank Davis told authorities, “I have been fighting roaches for about six months and they are bad. I even have stuff to spray now but it is harmful to my pets and my kids. So I’m not spraying that.”

Paperwork also says police didn’t see any kind of body or hair soap in the master bedroom, nor toothpaste or toothbrushes.

“Just not a good environment for children,” said Chief Harlan.

News 4 tried speaking with neighbors Thursday afternoon to see if they may have seen any signs of neglect.

One man did not want to go on camera, but tells News 4 he would always see the children playing with chickens in the family’s yard, but didn’t think much about it.

Chief Harlan says they rarely see cases like this.

“They have been placed by DHS into either foster homes or with family.” Chief Harlan said, when asked about the children.

Authorities say the two parents have a court hearing in November.
