Per CBS, she was a freshman at Ransom Everglades High School in Miami.

She was also a ballerina with the Miami City Ballet.

What happened to Ella Adler?

On May 11, 2024, Ella Adler was waterskiing with her friend's family near Nixon Beach in Key Biscayne, Florida.

She was killed after being hit by a boat at around 4:30 pm, according to police.

Cops said she was in the water with the board under her feet and a lifejacket on when she was struck by a large vessel that didn't stop.

CBS reports that she fell into the water close to a sandbar and was hit by a boat that didn't stop.

"We have multiple reports of a person who just got run over by a boat," first responders can be heard saying over the radio in audio obtained by local Fox affiliate WSVN.

What is Ella Adler's family saying about her death?

Ella was described as a loving person and a loyal friend.

"Ella Riley Adler was a star. She was a force of nature, and when she was near, everyone felt a gravitational pull toward her," reads her obituary.

"In her 15 years on this earth, she dazzled us with her light. She emanated love and joy.

"She was beautiful. When she walked into a room, everyone was drawn to her. She loved to dance, she loved her friends, and most of all she loved her family."

Rachel Rodriguez, Head of School at Ransom Everglades, also released a statement after the news of her death.

"Ella shined in our classrooms and on our stages, and she embodied the mission of Ransom Everglades School," she said.

"She was an outstanding student, a wonderful dancer, and an active member of the Jewish Student Association and speech and debate team," she continued.
