KENOSHA, Wis. - Following a tremendous indoor track & field season for
Aubrey Schoeneman, the junior earned the right to represent the Firebirds this weekend at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships in Birmingham, Alabama.
A native of Mercer, Wisconsin, Schoeneman will make her first career trip to the indoor championships - doing so in the shot put. In ten events this season, the star-thrower has earned a top-three finish in shot put nine times - winning five times. Schoeneman won CCIW Women's Track and Field Field Athlete of the Week after her first-place finish in the shot put at Carthage's first meet of the year, the Forever Red Alumni Classic.
Seeded 11th out of 20 participants in the event, Schoeneman' threw a season-long (and career-best) 13.95 meters at the CCIW Indoor Track and Field Championships in late-February - taking second in the event. The Firebirds will send a shot-putter to the indoor nationals for the second-consecutive season, as
Alexis Mattox represented the program in the event last year.
The championships will take place from Friday, March 10 through Saturday, March 11 in Birmingham, Alabama.
