Lake Maurer Retreat Center Celebrates 100th Anniversary with Fun-Filled Day!
Lake Maurer Retreat Center’s Centennial celebration was a resounding success, as the community flocked to the campgrounds on a beautiful Saturday. Camp managers Josh and Heather Emmons welcomed visitors to explore the grounds and enjoy a day filled with exciting activities.

Burley’s Deli opens at Smithville Lake marina
SMITHVILLE — There’s a new stop at Paradise Pointe Marina on Smithville Lake, open just in time for Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial start of summer. Burley’s Deli, 2825 NE 180th St., officially opened May 18. Owners Lisa and Scott Dover took the opportunity to bring their food favorites to the lake. The deli is right on the water, where diners can drive their boats into dock. There is a parking lot above the restaurant where visitors can park vehicles.

Gladstone outdoor pool opens Saturday
GLADSTONE — The Outdoor Municipal Pool will be opening for the season at noon on Saturday, May 27. The pool, at 7011 N. Holmes St., is located in Central Park in Gladstone. The pool has been a summer tradition in the Northland since 1978. The pool was renovated in 2007, providing visitors with an expanded concession area and pool deck, shade structures, deck furniture and play features. In 2022, the bathhouse received new fixtures and an addition of a party room. Also, the admission gate and office have been relocated to the west side of the building with a new entry off Holmes Street.
