The Veterans Warhawks fell in their region opener to Thomas Co Central 8-3 at the Warhawks Diamond yesterday evening. The Yellow Jackets quickly got on the board with a solo home run in the top of the first to lead 1-0 but Veterans was able to tie the game up in the bottom half of the first after Bryce Dryden stole home.
The Warhawks took the lead in the bottom half of the second when J Taylor stole home. Thomas Co Central retook the lead by scoring two runs in the top half of the fourth & Veterans tied the game up at 3 by running in a run in the bottom half of the fifth & the Yellow Jackets retook the lead for good with a run in the top half of the sixth.
Thomas Co Central pulled away with four runs in the top half of the seventh to lead 8-3 going into the bottom half of the seventh where they would not surrender any runs & won 8-3.
Eleswhere; the Perry Panthers played at Peach Co last night & won 8-5. On Monday, Perry opened region play by playing a doubleheader @ Westside-Macon where the Panthers won game 1 17-1 after five & took game 2 19-0 after five. The Warner Robins Demons played @ Locust Grove on Monday & lost 12-0 in five innings.
