ELY, Minn. — A wildfire in Minnesota's Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness has grown to 27 acres, causing the closure of more areas and portages. According to the U.S. Forest Service, there was a small amount of rain overnight, and fire activity is minimal. Firefighters are working to suppress and contain the blaze.

BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. — A man is facing a felony charge following the death of his 3-year-old son, who fell out the window of an 8th-floor apartment. Derrick Thompson faces additional murder charges in crash that killed 5 young women

Man dies after fish house explosion in Meeker County
MEEKER COUNTY, Minn. — A man is dead following an explosion inside a fish house in Meeker County Saturday morning. The Meeker County Sheriff's Office says deputies were dispatched to an address in Collinwood Township just before 7 a.m. on reports of a man who had suffered significant burns. Upon arrival they learned that 46-year-old Jeffery Holmquist of Dassel was inside the fish house when it exploded, leaving him with severe burns over a significant portion of his body.

Bartz Brothers ask for help to keep snow sculpture tradition alive
MINNEAPOLIS — A local winter tradition is in jeopardy, forcing two sculptors to ask the public for help. Austin, Trevor and Connor Bartz, the Bartz brothers, have crafted giant snow sculptures in New Brighton since 2012.
