The Kansas City Chiefs are on the lookout for some help at the wide receiver position this offseason. After remaking their wide receiver depth chart in 2022 following the trade of Tyreek Hill, some more adjustments are going to be needed in Kansas City this year.

JuJu Smith-Schuster, who had a great bounce-back season in 2022 with the Chiefs, signed with the New England Patriots in free agency. Mecole Hardman left for the New York Jets and Justin Watson remains a free agent.

Kansas City likely has plans to increase the role of 2022 second-round pick Skyy Moore and Kadarius Toney, who was acquired in a midseason trade from the New York Giants. Both have unique skill sets that Andy Reid is going to be able to get creative scheming plays for. But, the team could certainly use one or two more players at the position.

The Chiefs have been linked to veteran free agent Odell Beckham Jr. and as a trade suitor for DeAndre Hopkins, who the Arizona Cardinals are reportedly open to moving. But, according to an NFL scout that spoke to NFL Analysis Network, the Chiefs could fill their need for a wide receiver in the 2023 NFL Draft. They reportedly have their sights set on Zay Flowers.

“Kansas City is one of the most interested teams in Flowers right now. There has even been some belief that they could look to trade up to get him if needed.”

Zay Flowers is one of the more highly regarded wide receiver prospects in this year’s draft class. He was excellent for Boston College as he caught 78 passes for 1,077 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2022. Flowers has also proven to be a useful weapon in the running game during his collegiate career as a dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands.

His separation skills are elite, which will make him very difficult to stop when coming out of the slot position. Adding that kind of athleticism to an already speedy and explosive Chiefs’ offense would make them even more of a handful for opponents to slow down on a weekly basis.
