The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in a thrilling Super Bowl LVII contest despite All-Pro quarterback Patrick Mahomes playing with a high ankle sprain injury.
Mahomes’ performance will no doubt be remembered along with some of the other all-time championship performances.
However, questions still linger about Mahomes’ rehabilitation.
Head coach Andy Reid gave a positive update to Christian Gonzalez of NFL.com.
“He didn’t have to get anything done. He’s doing good, he feels good,” Reid told Gonzelez. “This time, he jumped right back into workouts and working the ankle, rehabbing the ankle. He’s lifting and running the parts that he could run, and he didn’t miss a beat on that.”
The update will come as good news to Chiefs fans as their quarterback gets closer to full health. Not having surgery is always big news.
Reid also spoke about the possibility of getting help to Mahomes’ receiving corps by adding a player like current free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
“Odell is a good football player. Yeah, he does a nice job. So, we’ll see how all that goes,” was all Reid offered to the reporter’s question.
The Chiefs are expected to contend for another Super Bowl next season.
