HIM, CALL POLICE. POLICE IN KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI, ARE INVESTIGATING A HOMICIDE AT THE STONE GATE MEADOWS APARTMENTS ON EAST 42ND STREET. OFFICERS FOUND 31 YEAR OLD JEROME OATS SHOT IN THE PARKING LOT JUST AFTER 1:00 YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. HE WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL WHERE HE DIED. POLICE RIGHT NOW DON’T HAVE ANYBODY IN CUSTODY AND NO SUSPECT INFORMATION TO GO ON. WE NOW KNOW THE NAME OF A PERSON FOUND DEAD NEAR SWOPE PARK THIS WEEK. One man is dead following a shooting in the 10400 block of East 43rd Street. Officers were called to the area on a reported shooting just after 1 p.m. on Saturday.On arrival, first responders located an adult male in the parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. On Sunday, police identified the victim as Jerome Oates. The 31-year-old was transported to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries.Detectives have canvassed the scene for witnesses and evidence, but they do not have any information on a suspect at this time.KCPD says the investigation is ongoing.
