From Arkansas to Illinois: Felon, Woman Apprehended with Loaded Weapon, Kids in Car

KANKAKEE, IL – A traffic stop in Kankakee Monday led to the arrest of a convicted felon from Arkansas and a woman from Joliet on charges related to weapons possession and child endangerment. 

Illinois State Police conducted the stop on the 45/52 at the I-57 northbound ramp after the vehicle failed to yield to another. During the stop, authorities reportedly discovered that the driver, 34-year-old Jermaine Antonio Simuel from McGehee, AR, was in possession of a weapon.

Simuel, a convicted felon, was arrested on multiple weapons charges and Endangering the Health or Life of a Child. 

His passenger, identified as 29-year-old Renee S. Casey from Joliet, IL, was arrested on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and cause child to be endangered by non family related individual. Both individuals were taken into custody at the scene. 

Three juveniles were in the vehicle at the time of the incident.  Those children were placed under the care of a family members following the incident.
