Deputies are still investigating a deadly crash on Interstate 64 in Kanawha County that they said was the result of a road rage incident.
"This is the tragic result of what happens when it goes too far," Kanawha County Chief Deputy Joe Crawford said.
On Sunday about 4 p.m., Kanawha County Sheriff's Deputies received a call about a rollover crash going eastbound on I-64.
"The victim has been identified as Amanda Getts of Missouri; she's 31 years old," Crawford said. "She and the driver of the vehicle were a couple; they knew each other, obviously, and they were traveling together."
Deputies believed the two drivers were driving recklessly and erratically for several miles when the driver of a Buick made an aggressive maneuver towards the other vehicle and lost control of his car.
The Buick crashed into the retaining wall and flipped multiple times as Getts was ejected from the car. Crawford said neither the driver nor the passenger were found wearing seatbelts.
"There were two pet dogs in the car; one was recovered, and the other has not been recovered or located at this time," Crawford said.
The Kanawha County Sheriff's Office said the crash is still under investigation, but right now no charges have been filed against the drivers. However, deputies are interviewing several witnesses and pulling surveillance footage to help gather the pieces.
"There's a lot of construction going on and a lot of congestion, so we just urge the motoring public to be courteous, take their time, and not get into a situation where someone gets hurt," Crawford said.
