1 arrested after 31 pounds of alleged methamphetamine found in Hereford traffic stop

DEAF SMITH COUNTY, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The Deaf Smith County Sheriff’s Office announced that one person was arrested during a traffic stop in Hereford on Sunday after more than 31 pounds of suspected methamphetamine was allegedly found in the stopped vehicle.

Officials with the sheriff’s office said that around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, a traffic stop was conducted on the east side of Hereford involving a white Chevrolet Pickup driven by Marcus Salinas. During the stop, deputies reported finding a combined amount of more than 31 pounds of suspected methamphetamine in the pickup.

In a photo published on the department’s social media, officials showed what appeared to be several bags of a white substance taken from backpacks and pieces of luggage.

Officials said that after the stop, Salinas was arrested for alleged “manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance over 400 grams.”
